James Hastings is a London-based writer and director with over a decade of experience in narrative filmmaking. He began making films at the age of 12, inspired by the work of Steven Spielberg, and has since developed a body of work that spans award-winning short films, music videos, stage productions, and branded content.
He is the founder of Hastings Infinity Films, which he established at age 12, and has written and directed numerous short films that have screened at festivals and venues worldwide. His work includes Hidden Insight, Make It Stop!, Off The Coast, and Slightly Red Handed, all of which have received critical recognition. His films have been showcased at the BFI Southbank, BFI IMAX London, and the Cannes Film Festival, with projects supported by organisations such as Kino London and distributed internationally by Omeleto.
In 2017, James received the Inspiring Young Filmmaker Award in recognition of his early achievements, before going on to serve as a Global Youth Ambassador for RoundTable Global. In addition to his short film work, he has directed music videos featuring leading West End performers Kerry Ellis and Jamie Muscato, and wrote and directed the original stage musical Everything Between Us, further demonstrating his range as a storyteller across mediums.
James currently works for London-based production company Pictures For The People, where he directs branded and commercial content for clients including UNiDAYS, Kier, and Richmond Council. His work in this space combines strong narrative sensibilities with a clear understanding of audience and purpose.
His latest short film, Wild Bear, is currently on the international festival circuit.
